If you are curious about further exploring the path of the yogi, the BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is an excellent place to begin. Beginning in October 2019, the BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa YTT will take place over eight months. Each weekend will include philosophical sutra study, an extended asana practice, anatomical and physiological inquiry as related to asana, meditation and breathwork, in-depth study of the history of yoga, and practice teaching to a room of peers.   

 

The BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa YTT will bring together masters-level readings on yoga philosophy and history, advanced asana practice, and the unique opportunity to explore the body’s full anatomical functionality. BLYS trainees will move intentionally through the body as well as the Eight Limbs of Yoga to create a fully-formed idea of what yoga is, and how it can best be used in each unique situation.

The training will be led by MacDuff Perkins, E-RYT 500 and co-owner of Blue Lotus Yoga Studio. With a master’s degree in the History of Religions from the University of Virginia and a degree in Chinese language from the University of Michigan, Perkins is an experienced educator passionate about modern yoga’s influences from many lineages and cultures. She will lead the majority of asana practices; philosophical, historical, and cultural discussions; practice teach sessions; and the final practicum.

 

Dr. Kristen Cooper, MS, PT, DPT, CSCS, LMT, and recent RYT-200, will be leading the anatomical study portion of the training. Dr. Cooper received a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College and a doctorate in the same discipline from Temple University. She has been a practicing physical therapist for over 17 years, has an advanced understanding of biomechanical movement and is a passionate instructor. Dr. Cooper is enthusiastic to work with trainees to understand the body’s ideal range of motion and limitations, and the sub-surface workings of the body in asana.

 

Throughout the training, various other instructors from the Blue Lotus Yoga Studio family will assist in teaching modules. Learning from local professionals will allow trainees to expand their own yogic communities and pursue opportunities beyond the studio.

 

The BLYS 200-hour YTT will also work to help trainees develop a personal practice in one’s life. Whether that involves a daily meditation or yoga practice, regular journaling, or an ongoing effort toward presence, trainees should be prepared for daily work over the course of the eight months. In addition, 30 studio classes are necessary for completion of the training. The classes must be completed at Blue Lotus Yoga Studio. In the event that location makes the studio class portion of the training impossible, arrangements may be made to complete the class portion outside of BLYS with another qualified instructor.

RATES:

 

Early Bird Pricing (available through May 31): $2500

Regular Pricing (Beginning June 1): $2700

A non-refundable deposit of $350 is necessary to secure your spot in the training.

 

For trainees completing the 30-class portion within BLYS, a 30-class pack may be purchased for $300 ($10 a class, or a 50% savings).
