Are you looking to deepen your yoga practice? Or are you serious about becoming a certified yoga teacher?
If you are curious about further exploring the path of the yogi, the BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is an excellent place to begin. Starting November 2020, our second BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa YTT will take place over eight months. Each weekend will include philosophical sutra study, an extended asana practice, anatomical and physiological inquiry, meditation and breath work, in-depth study of the history of yoga, and practice teaching to a room of peers.
The BLYS 200-hour Vinyasa YTT will bring together masters-level readings on yoga philosophy and history, advanced asana practice, and the unique opportunity to explore the body’s full anatomical functionality. BLYS trainees will move intentionally through the body as well as the Eight Limbs of Yoga to create a fully-formed idea of what yoga is, and how it can best be used in each unique situation.
Lead trainer MacDuff Perkins, E-RYT 500, holds a master’s degree in the History of Religions from the University of Virginia and a degree in Chinese language from the University of Michigan. Perkins is an experienced educator passionate about modern yoga’s influences from many lineages and cultures. She will lead the majority of the asana practices, the philosophical, historical, and cultural discussions, practice teaching sessions, and the final practicum.
Dr. Kristen Cooper, MS, PT, DPT, CSCS, LMT, and recent RYT-200, will lead the anatomical study portion of the training. Dr. Cooper received a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College and a doctorate in the same discipline from Temple University. She has been a practicing physical therapist for over 17 years, has an advanced understanding of biomechanical movement and is a passionate instructor. Dr. Cooper is enthusiastic to work with trainees to understand the body’s ideal range of motion and limitations, and the sub-surface workings of the body in asana.
Additionally, guest instructors from the Blue Lotus Yoga Studio family will assist in specialized modules from time-to-time.
The BLYS 200-hour YTT will help trainees develop a strong personal practice. Whether that involves a daily meditation or an asana practice, regular journaling, or an ongoing effort toward being present, trainees should be prepared for daily work over the course of the eight months. In addition, 30 studio classes are required for completion of the training. These classes must be completed at Blue Lotus Yoga Studio. In the event that a trainee's location makes the studio class portion of the training impossible, arrangements may be made to complete classes outside of BLYS.
