Blue Lotus Yoga Studio invites you on an unforgettable adventure in Charleston, South Carolina. Join Co-Owners/Founders Julie Nogueira and Duffy Perkins on a yoga retreat to a city bursting with color, flavor, and historical landmarks. Enjoy BLYSing out Charleston for 4 days and 3 nights, including daily yoga classes, delectable cuisine, and curated cultural engagements. You can also choose to stay on for an optional 3-day, 2-night extension to McLeod Plantation, Kiawah Island, and Folly Beach.

 

Spring is the best time of year to visit Charleston, when the weather is warm and the city is bustling with locals looking to enjoy its coastal and urban charm. Thursday – Welcome to Chas (as the locals call it) / Retreat Kickoff

  • Arrive in Charleston in the early afternoon, or choose to fly in early for a spa treatment at the Spa at Belmond Charleston Place to boost energy and dissolve tension for a renewed sense of self.*

  • Check-in to the Belmond Hotel, our accommodations in the heart of Charleston’s historic district and winner of Fodor’s “Most Luxurious Hotel in Charleston” award

  • Retreat opening and afternoon yoga beginat 4pm; please plan your arrival flights accordingly.

  • Enjoy a healthy and delicious dinner together at one of Charleston’s best restaurants

Friday – Exploring Charleston

  • Morning yoga and a healthy breakfast 

  • Learn what makes Charleston "America's Best-kept Secret” on a walking tour of Rainbow Row, St. Michaels Church, and other historic landmarks and architectural gems.

  • Independent lunch*

  • Join for an optional tour of the Avery Research Center, housed in one of the first freedman schools in Charleston; our guide will share about their work to collect, preserve, and promote the unique history and culture of the African diaspora, with an emphasis on Charleston and  South Carolina Lowcountry.*

  • Afternoon yoga

  • Enjoy a healthy and delicious dinner together at a restaurant that is favorite among locals.

*Each day, our retreat offers some independent time; we’ll provide recommendations and curated opportunities, too, whether you are seeking group connection or individual reflection

 

Saturday – Charleston Charm

  • Morning yoga and healthy breakfast 

  • This morning, shop, explore the city, or book another treatment at the spa! 

  • For those of you who’d enjoy, we’ll also offer an optional yoga workshop to deepen your practice.

  • Independent lunch 

  • Afternoon yoga

  • This evening we’ll visit with Suzanne Pollak, “Dean” of the Charleston Academy of Domestic Pursuits; learn about southern charm and how to foster more meaningful connections on how we live 

  • Enjoy a healthy and delicious dinner together at one of Charleston’s best restaurants

  • If you dare, join us for an optional ghost tour after dinner to explore the Holy City’s streets, cemeteries and churches, learning about the eerie edges of Charleston’s Haunted Historic District.*

Sunday – Farewell Charleston 

  • Morning yoga 

  • Say farewells at our final breakfast together – or choose to venture on for an 3-day, 2 night extension! 

  • For those staying for the main retreat only, the retreat will conclude by 1pm; please plan afternoon flights accordingly

Extension to McLeod Plantation, Kiawah Island, and Folly Beach

 

Sunday – Sweat and Skill

  • After brunch, head to McLeod Plantation for a private tour. This 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site has been carefully preserved, and is stirring up controversy for its focus on the sweat, skill, and experience of the enslaved people who lived there.

  • Check into the boutique Andell Inn on Kiawah Island, our home for the next 3 days, which boasts a spacious wrap-around patio, peaceful lake, and saltwater pool.

  • Enjoy a healthy and delicious dinner together on Kiawah Island.

Monday – Sun and Sand

  • Morning yoga and a healthy breakfast

  • Today, enjoy all that Kiawah has to offer: head to Kiawah Beachwalker Park, a quiet ten-mile stretch of coast is often quiet and less populated than other Lowcountry beaches. Spend the day laying by the water, or wander through some of the 30 miles of biking and walking trails.*  

  • Evening Yoga

  • Enjoy a healthy and delicious dinner together on Kiawah Island.

Tuesday – The Edge of America, then onward home

  • Morning yoga and a healthy breakfast 

  • Visit Folly beach, a funky and carefree outpost nicknamed “The Edge of America.” Shop Center Street, visiting bohemian boutiques and picking out a special item for your friends back home.

  • We’ll get together for one final group practice, before catching our flights home.

  • Transportation today, from our hotel, to Folly beach, to Charleston airport (CHS) is included, and will arrive CHS by ~5pm; please plan your evening flights home accordingly

Most meals (breakfast and dinner daily) and all activities included in the base price; optional excursion (ghost tour), spa services, and hotel upgrades are available for an additional cost. Pricing (coming soon) is based on double occupancy. Hotel room upgrades are based on availability and not guaranteed until full payment has been made. This particular tour has been designed with specific individuals and events in mind, whose schedules and availabilities may change without notice. While we do our best to adhere to the itinerary, traveling anywhere requires flexibility, and changes to specific interactions and other activities may occur. In addition, some changes may occur in our itineraries due to inclement weather and changes to timetables and transport routes, which can happen with little notice. The order and timing of included activities in each location may also vary from time to time. Each day we will update you on the program and keep you informed throughout the trip.
