Frequently Asked Questions

I'm New To Yoga. Is There A Class For Me?

Absolutely! Beginners are encouraged to try Gentle Yoga, Yin, Restorative Yoga, Breathwork & Reiki, or Vinyasa I. Our instructors will move through poses slowly, emphasizing proper alignment and safety. Expect more instruction as well as suggestions for how to best modify poses for less intensity.

How Do I Sign Up For Class?

The best, most seamless way to book classes at BLYS is with our app. Search "Blue Lotus Yoga Studio" to download.

Do I Have To Pre-register Or Can I Just Drop In?

We ask that clients pre-book online via our app or website no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of class.

What Do I Need To Bring To Yoga Class?

Bring a yoga mat, a bottle of water, and possibly a towel. We also offer mats for a rental fee of $2. Platinum, Gold and Silver Members may use our in-house mats free of charge. We have a water cooler on-site for refills.

If I Show Up Late, Can I Still Take Class?

It depends. If there is a front desk associate on duty when you arrive, they will let you into class up to 10 minutes late. However, if a front desk staffer is not on duty that day, the door will be locked promptly at the start of class, and late comers will not be permitted.

Are You A Hot Yoga Studio?

We are not a traditional "hot yoga" studio. We offer both heated and non-heated yoga classes with temperatures ranging from 75 To 95 degrees. For our Barre and Pilates classes, the thermostat is typically set to 70-72 degrees.

What Should I Wear To Yoga?

We suggest wearing comfortable, somewhat snug clothing. When practicing yoga most people find that tight, moisture-wicking apparel is best. Certain postures result in the student being slightly or fully inverted, in which case a loose fitting shirt could fall towards the face and prove distracting. We also advise students to practice barefoot.

I'm New To Barre And Pilates. Is There A Class For Me?

Yes! All of our fitness classes are suitable for first-timers. We suggest letting your instructor know if you're brand new to this format so that they can better assist you with modifications and alignment corrections.

Do I Have To Wear Socks To Barre Class?

Sticky socks are optional Students are welcome to wear barre-specific socks with rubber grip on the sole. We sell these in our BLYS Boutique. You are also welcome to take class barefoot.

Does Your Studio Have A Shower?

Yes, We have one ADA-accessible shower.

Do I Have To Bring My Own Yoga Props?

We have all of the props you need for a well-rounded yoga or barre class. For our yoga students, we offer bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps. Our mats can be rented for $2. We also sell a variety of mats for anyone looking to buy. Our fitness studio is outfitted with cushy 48" fitness mats, resistance bands, hand weights, straps, resistance bands, gliders, blocks, and balls.
