Welcome To BLYS


Hi, I'm Julie, RYT-500 And Owner Of Blue Lotus Yoga Studio.

When I'm not managing the day-to-day operations of BLYS, I'm likely feeding, chauffeuring, and trying to keep up with my three sons. I also enjoy spending time with my handsome, loveably neurotic husband of 20+ years, snuggling my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and binge watching serial killer docuseries.


Hey, a girl's gotta unwind.

My journey here has not been a straight line. While I've always been an active person, I have never been a fan of "working out." I started taking yoga classes in the early 2000s because the practice reminded me of my early days as a gymnast and dancer. At first, yoga was a way to get strong and flexible without having to make nice with the stair master.


But before long, I started recognizing the emotional benefits that resulted from having a consistent yoga practice. I left classes feeling not just physically spent, but also mentally clear and more settled. In 2005 I had my first child, and subsequently put my marketing career on hold. It was at that time yoga became less of a hobby and more of a lifeline. Nine years and two additional kids later, I received my 200-hour yoga teacher certification, and in 2018 I co-founded Blue Lotus Yoga Studio.

When BLYS was conceptualized, I immediately knew I wanted to incorporate barre classes into the studio model. With its small, isometric movements designed to strengthen and support the body, barre is the perfect compliment to yoga. Over time, we've experimented with offering a variety of hybrid fitness formats, like pilates and circuit training. These classes and more pop up on the schedule from time-to-time.

Our Space

BLYS takes a holistic approach to health and wellness with classes designed to tone, strengthen, balance, and restore.


Studio 1

Our fitness studio is outfitted with mirrors and two ballet barres. This space has been meticulously designed with fitness enthusiasts in mind. Studio 1 is home to Barre, Yoga Sculpt, Power Core and pop-up classes like Pilates and Circuit. The space holds 15 clients comfortably.


Studio 2

Our yoga studio is an oasis for those looking to escape life's distractions. Thoughtfully planned lighting helps create an environment to both energize and calm. The walls are a subtle gray, save for one that's jay blue and adorned with a platinum lotus flower. The space holds 24 students.

The Dock

BLYS partners with Annapolis Sailing School to offer outdoor classes on a large floating platform with panoramic water views! Outdoor classes occur June through September, and separate pricing options, including memberships, class packs, and single dock passes, can be purchased.
