BLYS holds in-studio yoga and fitness classes, as well as outdoor classes on a floating platform, April through October.
BEGINNER YOGA SERIES
New to yoga? This 6-part series is for you! Attendees will learn the basic principals of yoga, the fundamentals of alignment, and mindful breath work. Students can sign up for all 6 sessions at a reduced rate or drop in to individual classes.
Gentle Yoga is a soft, well-supported practice. The approach includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Perfect for seniors, pregnant yoginis, and anyone looking to simply slow down and breathe.
HOT STONE RESTORE
This restorative yoga class utilizes props to help students ease into postures and surrender to the pose. Students will also have the option of incorporating hot stones into their practice, which can be placed on various areas of the body to facilitate healing and calm.
OUTDOOR ALL LEVELS YOGA
Our all levels yoga classes take place on the floating platform at Annapolis Sailing School. This format is perfect for seasoned beginners to advanced practitioners. Outdoor classes take place April through October.
This BLYS signature format combines vinyasa yoga with moves designed to isolate and strengthen your true core. Props like blankets, gliders and blocks are incorporated, in addition to a high-octane playlist.
This 45-minute outdoor yoga class takes place on the floating dock at Annapolis Sailing School. Students will salute the sun as it literally rises over the Chesapeake Bay!
Yin yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes, allowing for the release of joints and fascia. Students will be on the floor most of the time, using props to create as little effort as possible while holding poses.
Yoga I is a slow-paced vinyasa flow practice designed for those who are new to yoga or prefer a gentler, more descriptive vinyasa class.
Yoga II is perfect for seasoned beginners and intermediate practitioners who are ready to expand their practice. Expect introductions to inversions and arm balances, in addition to mindful breath work.
When time is of the essence, the last thing you need to sacrifice is your yoga practice. This express version of our Yoga II class is the perfect way to get in a well-rounded, energetic vinyasa flow.
A BLYS barre class mixes elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training. You’ll use the barre and various fitness props to sculpt, stretch and work up a sweat.
OUTDOOR MAT BARRE
This barreless version of our signature barre class takes place on the floating dock at Annapolis Sailing School. All levels are welcome to attend. Bring a mat and, if you like, you own hand weights.
Want your barre with a little extra oomph? Power Barre brings longer holds, controlled breath work, and a burst of cardio to make your muscles shake a little longer.
Push your strength and flexibility to new heights while an upbeat play list serves to motivate you. You'll use hand and ankle weights to create resistance and added intensity in each pose. Feel energized and accomplished in under an hour!
Boost metabolism and build lean muscle mass as you move to upbeat tracks. You’ll combine free weights with BLYS Yoga II sequencing and cardio to intensify each yoga pose while mixing in strength-training moves like squats, lunges and bicep curls.
